pep-population-estimates

Guarded metric-spine expansion for annual resident population estimates from Census PEP vintages; reviewed agent/MCP exposure is limited to explicit 2025 V2025 resident-population requests plus the state/positive-geo_unit broad population-topic gate. Components of change remain planned.

  • · Current PEP vintages are file-backed; historical API datasets are not the full current acquisition path.
  • · The 2025 V2025 resident-population state/county slice has reviewed canonical geo_unit_id assignments and preserved source-native provenance metadata; agent/MCP exposure is limited to explicit source_slug=census, metric_code=census_pep_resident_population, year=2025 requests and reviewed broad topic=population requests with an explicit state filter or positive reviewed canonical geo_unit_id.
  • · No-geography/all-state population routing, invalid geo_unit_id filters, other-year broad population-topic routing, public pages, Gap Hunter remediation, scheduling, ontology edges, and second-vintage comparisons remain blocked.
  • · Do not combine separate PEP vintages unless the response explicitly labels the vintage comparison.
  • · Tract, block group, block, metro, and subcounty PEP slices are not covered by the initial metric-spine slice.

How American Context connects this

  • An observation is tied to a geography.observation_for_geo
  • An observation is tied to a time period.observation_for_period

Coverage and limits

  • ·Margins of error and ACS vintages must be preserved in the metric spine.
  • ·Census PEP current estimates are file-backed; do not assume current-vintage API availability.
  • ·PEP vintages revise the time series back to the most recent decennial census and supersede older vintage products.
  • ·PEP source-release provenance remains citation/metadata lineage only until ONTOLOGY_SPEC defines source_release as a canonical node and defines reviewed edge semantics.
